Anne Simon is a self-taught glass artist. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, and graduated from Xavier University in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts, and a concentration in Art History. Through this background, Anne developed an appreciation for Modern Design, which she furthered over the next eight years as the owner of a vintage clothing and home décor store. In 1996 Anne first worked with glass. Her curiosity to understand how things are made and the perseverance to figure it out fueled her learning of the craft. From 2001-2005 Anne opened Wish Art Glass as a studio and gallery for her work and other regional artists. Since 2005 Anne has developed her technique and style from her home studio while gaining inspiration and a renewed sense of wonder from her young son.
Modern lines with elegant, sometimes whimsical flourishes are the basis of Anne’s fused glass art. Most of her pieces are functional; candle lanterns, suncatchers, garden ornaments, and jewelry, belying a belief that beauty and good design add to the quality of everyday life. Current techniques involve combining fused glass with lampworked ornamentation and stained glass construction. The experiment and adventure never end…
